Julia Margaret Cameron

Receiving a camera as a present for her 48th birthday, Julia Margaret Cameron (1815-1879) took up photography and became one of the most important portraitists of the 19th century.  Her work below, currently on display at the National Portrait Gallery, is mostly from the 1860's.













These 3 portraits are of Julia Jackson, the
mother of writer Virginia Woolf.
