Built in the late 1860s, the magnificent St. Pancras Chambers is a hotel & residences that sit atop the St. Pancras rail station.  The hotel was obsolete upon its 1870s debut as it lacked the latest innovations, namely indoor plumbing & electricity.  Shockingly, in the mid-1960s, after a long period of disuse & decay, this architectural gem came within 10 days of demolition but was saved by The Victorian Society; it was restored to its full splendor in 2011.
