Deal Castle

The Strait of Dover is at the narrowest part of the English Channel (20 miles from England to France).  In the adjacent Kentish coastal towns of Deal and Walmer are 2 castles, actually fortresses, fronting the strait.  Both were built by King Henry VIII in 1539.  Deal Castle was opened to the public as a tourist attraction in the 1950's.
