Built by Henry the VIII's Secretary of State in 1535, Sutton House is the oldest residence in Hackney, East London. It is a rare example of brick construction from the Tudor period. Dilapidated and occupied by squatters in the 1980s, the building was rescued, restored, and opened to the public in the 1990s.
