Hastings

Seaside Hastings gives its name to the Battle of Hastings which took place nearby in 1066, kicking off the Norman invasion of England.  High above the English Channel, Hastings Castle was built by the Normans 4 years later.  The town was a popular seaside resort in the 1800's.
