Built by the London Power Company on the south bank of the Thames, the station is one of the largest brick buildings in the world and is noted for its original Art Deco interiors. It was recently converted to a shopping and residential complex. Constructed beginning in 1929, the coal-fired power plant supplied electricity to a good deal of London. Its original control room is now a cocktail bar.
