We kicked off our Valentine's Day outing with lunch at ScandiKitchen, which serves the food of Sweden, Denmark, Norway, and Finland. We had the Veggie Swedish "Meatballs" with creamy mash, lingonberries, gravy, pickles, and a red cabbage super slaw. Very yummy.
Next we headed to Regent Street Cinema for their over-55 discount matinee Monday. This theatre, opened in 1848, is recognized as the birthplace of British cinema. It was here that the very first motion picture was shown in the UK Today's feature was the 1945 David Lean film Brief Encounter, with Trevor Howard & Celia Johnson, a moving story of a doomed extra-marital romance.
After the film we stopped into Attendant Coffee Roasters in Fitzrovia. This cafe is surprisingly a former below-street Victorian public toilet dating from 1890. The original urinals have been transformed into seating. Very cool!
Wow...the memories you will have. What a journey you 2 have had.
ReplyDeleteAnd since we can't be there thanks for bringing me along on the journey.
