Nottingham Castle has not been a castle for quite some time; the Norman stronghold was mostly leveled and replaced by a ducal palace in the 1600's. The palace has been an art museum since the late 1800's. Nottingham, the county town of Nottinghamshire, is famous for its association with the Robin Hood legend.
