Ightham Mote (pronounced item mote) is regarded as the most complete moated medieval manor house in England. Located in Kent, its origins date from the mid 1300's. The manor's final owner, C. H. Robinson of Portland, Maine, purchased the property in 1953 and left it to the National Trust upon his death in 1985.
