Magdalen College

Oxford's Magdalen College (pronounced maud-lin) was established in 1458.  Oscar Wilde was a student here from 1874 to 1878.

The Sheldonian and The Bodleian

Architect Christopher Wren's 1669 Sheldonian Theatre offers some nice views of Oxford from its crowning cupola.  This was followed by a tour of one of the oldest libraries in Europe, the Bodleian, founded in 1602.

The Battle of Hastings

The Anglo-Saxon era came to an end and England's Norman period began upon the victory of William the Conqueror at the Battle of Hastings in 1066.  Almost 1000 years later the historic site in the town of Battle, East Sussex, offers an audio tour of the Hastings battlefield and its 1070 Benedictine Abbey built to commemorate the Norman Conquest.
