Bloomsday Walk in Kensington

Bloomsday, named for Leopold Bloom, protagonist of James Joyce's 1922 novel Ulysses, is an annually observed celebration of the famed Irish author.  Today we joined a guided walk around Kensington, organized by London's Irish Cultural Centre in observance of Bloomsday 2021, highlighting Joyce's connection (and that of his literary cohorts) to the neighborhood.  Irish poet Niall McDevitt led the fascinating walk which included stops at the Kensington homes of Joyce, T. S. Eliot, and Ezra Pound.  Known as "The Men of 1914", these literary luminaries were pioneers of Modernism, the early 20th century movement featuring emotional and experimental innovation in prose and poetry.
