The Ragged School Museum

Ragged schools were charitable organizations devoted to the education of poor children in 19th century England & Scotland.  The museum itself was one such school (Dr. Barnardo's Copperfield Road Free School), opened in 1877 to serve the children of Mile End, East London.

Cosmic House

Until his death in 2019, Cosmic House was the Notting Hill residence of Charles Jencks, an American writer specializing in postmodernist architecture.  Designed mostly in the 1980s & 90s, the house embodies Jencks' postmodernist ideas with its references to history, philosophy, cosmology, irony, & kitsch.
